La nube es la nueva moda. Cloud computing, le dicen, o simplemente la Nube. Debo decirles que con sólo usar GMail han entrado a ese mundo gaseoso en el que dejamos que nuestras cosas de mayor relevancia sean administradas por un ser remoto que, se supone, siempre está.
The Cloud is the new thing. Cloud Computing. If you are using GMail, you have entered in that vaporous world, in which we trust our most precious moments to be remembered by an omnipresent -we hope- remote beeing.
El gancho que nos atrae es el desapego, desprendernos de esas posesiones que también nos pesan. No importa que mi computadora esté en el fondo de ese pozo, todos mis datos están en los brazos de un hermano mayor que siempre recordará las cosas importante que le decimos.
Pero, la gran sorpresa es que toda esta nube se hace cada día más rica. La nutrimos con nuestra confianza y se hace más grande. Por eso quiero hacerles un pequeño paseo por las cosas que encontré, tratando de ver formas en el cielo.
Les sugiero probar, dentro del GMail la opción de convertir un correo en una tarea. Esa tarea no queda estática, sino que sigue incorporando futuros correos que van relatando su desarrollo. Si siguen buscando van a encontrar un montón de cosas interesantes que nos permiten interconectar el gCalendar con los gDocs y las gCosas que sigan creando.
Pero no nos quedemos allí. Si alguno de ustedes probó alguna vez el EtherPad, les cuento que es una especie de anotador en el que varios usuarios pueden anotar cosas en el mismo espacio, cada uno con su color, al mismo tiempo. De hecho, podemos ver como aparece, letra a letra, cada palabra que escribe el más remoto de nuestros compañeros de trabajo. Este anotador recordará quién agregó o borró cada cosa, y en qué orden lo hizo. Si lo deseamos, podemos reproducir toda la historia para ver como se produjo, letra a letra ese documento.
La Nube crece también para relacionarse, cuando subimos un video en Youtube y podemos desde esa misma página publicarlo en nuestra página de Facebook. O cuando podemos usar alguna de las tantas páginas que hay para actualizar al mismo tiempo el estado de todas las redes sociales que usamos.
Esta interacción es un poco rudimentaria y básica hoy, pero si hay algo atrapante de la red es que todos los hilos están conectados, y con cada movimiento que hacemos, la red crece. Estén atentos a esta unificación, es importante, de alguna manera.

But, the big surprise is that The Cloud is getting richer. We nurture it with our trust, and it’s getting bigger. That’s why I want to walk you through the things I’ve found, trying to find shapes in the sky.
I suggest you to try in GMail, to convert a mail into a task -the button is somewhere, just take a look around-. This task will not remain static, as it keeps adding mails related which tells a story about that task’s development. There are a lot of incredible things that you will find in GMail, or GCalendar or the GoogleDocs, and all these things can interact in an incredible manner.
But don’t stop there. Try the crazy EtherPad. Make your friends take notes on the same page and you’ll see how everyone’s annotations appear, word by word, letter by letter, each one with he’s own color. It’s amazing, and the system remembers the whole typing so you can playback again to see how every piece of this document was created.
The Clouds are touching, upload a video on Youtube and you can update your Facebook profile to spread the news, or you can update your status from one network to the other because they are starting to accept that connecting the threads make the net stronger.
This interaction is new and rude, but open up your eyes to this because big things are been cooked and somehow, they are important.
